Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang termasuk dalam megadiversity, yaitu merupakan negara yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang tinggi (Sadjudin, 2000). Disamping itu Indonesia juga pusat keragaman hayati dan menduduki urutan terkaya kedua di dunia setelah Brazilia.

Oleh karena kekayaan alamnya tersebut, pengobatan tradisional sudah lama dikenal dan digunakan oleh masyarakat Indonesia untuk mengobati berbagai macam penyakit. Sejak zaman dahulu, banyak jenis tanaman, baik tunggal ataupun ramuan yang telah digunakan untuk menangkal dan mengobati penyakit. Buku ini memuat 40 (empat puluh) jenis tanaman obat beserta khasiat-khasiatnya dan cara pengolahannya yang biasa digunakan oleh Suku Anak Dalam Bendar Bengkulu yang berlokasi di STL Ulu Terawas Kabupaten Musi Rawas.Hal yang menarik bahwa, dari keempat puluh tanaman obat tersebut ternyata banyak tanaman yang dapat kita temui dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, namun selama ini kita hanya menggapnya sebagai tanaman yang tidak memiliki khasiat obat. Oleh karena itu sangatlah  tidak berlebihan jika buku ini disebut sebagai kado istimewa dari Suku Anak Dalam Bendar Bengkulu bagi seluruh masyarakat Indonesia dalam hal kesehatan.
